We were doing everything right, playing small ball, good defense, Bush pitched well until he gave up the home run. The wheels fell off though in the bottom of the 8th, Brauny gets picked off and we fail to score with runners on 2nd & 3rd. Hells Bells comes in and we expect 1-2-3, runner gets on for Stavinova and he hits a sand wedge out of the ball park.

Stan Kyles (bullpen coach) pulling his best Yostly impression by saying it was one of those nights where you just have to tip your cap to the other team. Tip your cap my rear end, I hope Nick Stavanova enjoys his 15 seconds of fame with his lucky sand wedge to the left field bleachers off the Trevor Hoffman. (the following picture is what Wally thought of when he thought of Nick Stavanova. I personally agree.)

In other news, BUCKS WIN BUCKS WIN! For those of you scoring at home now, the Bucks are 3-0 without Bogut, maybe we do have hope without the Awesome Aussie in the middle for us. It brings pure pleasure to my face when I saw that the Cardinals lost last night, and ending their 2009 season just like the way the Cubs of last year ended their season. By getting swept!!! Even though we didn't hit .500 this year even, or make the playoffs, we still remain the only NL Central over the past two years to win a playoff baseball game...

Quiet day on the Brewers front, good article on JSOnline on what the Brewers need to do this offseason to get back to the 90 win mark and get back in the playoff hunt. Here's a spoiler...it involves pitching.

The Bucks came to Green Bay last night, wish I would have known so I could see how many of them I would actually recognize on the court. Even though it was preseason basketball, and Da Bulls were without PG Derrick Rose, we still won the game. It looks like the replacement refs are getting in shape for the regular season as well too...

"The replacement referees, working in place of the locked out NBA officials, provided an entertaining moment in the third quarter, with an assist from Skiles. After Bucks guard Luke Ridnour went up to block a shot by Hinrich and was called for a foul, Skiles walked directly onto the court and gave the “T” sign with his hands, effectively giving himself a technical. Then referee Corey McCray obliged by whistling a technical on the coach, who was standing right next to him."
If there was a Fantasy League for Officials, (Sportscenter mentions it all the time, it would be a great idea) Corey McCray would be a hot target on the Free Agent wire right now.

Lastly, it's a Sunday, but the Packers have a bye week and go against the Detroit Lions next week. Here's a list of stuff that the Packers should get done this week.

Resign Mark Tauscher

Cut Allen Barbre

If Options 1 or 2 do not work, get a big heavy wooden desk, put where the RT spot is, and that should do a better job than Allen Barbre has done so far.

Oh yeah, don't lose to the Lions.....

Oh, and Happy 40th Birthday to Brett Favre, here's hoping that Oshiomogho Atogwe from the Rams has a field day on Brett, and that Brett hits the turf hard a few times today......GO RAMS!

The "Right" stuff

Assist to my co-hort Wally on the title. Today, we are heading, besides to the bar shortly, we are going to talk about the Packers lovely offensive line and how Mark Tauscher has the "right stuff" to solve our needs...
So as a continuation from yesterday, and the Aaron Rodgers becoming David Carr references thanks to our offensive live, which really is offensive. Mark Tauscher perhaps might be the key for the Packers offensive turning it around once Chad Clifton comes back as well. Allen Barbre, is just atrocious, enough said..we need help Mark Tauscher is the best option out there, even though he is coming back from major surgery. We do not want to trade our offensive line for school desks....."I did have a thought though...perhaps the Packers should eschew linemen in the tradional "human" sense, and just put an assortment of desks and office furniture between Rodgers and the defense. I'm thinking he would have a bit more time to throw, but unfortunately we'd probably have more delaying of game penalties (but less holding and false starts, so maybe it's a wash). Just a thought..."

In the end, that actually doesn't sound like that bad of an idea, we would free up a lot of cap room that would allow us to upgrade the desks to have motors in them and wheels, and also trade for Jerry Rice and Bo Jackson from Tecmo Super Bowl. Here's hoping that Will Blackmon has a speedy recovery, and that Jordy Nelson becomes the reincarnate of Allan Rossum, Desmond Howard and Don Beebe all in one.

In other notes, Curtis Granderson as a Brewer??? I heard some nasty rumors on BCB that Granderson is interested in Bernie's slide and coming to Milwaukee, I'd be happy with that. Sounds like a much younger version of Mike Cameron, but with better contact and speed now.

And lastly, tonight.......Badgers will win tomorrow....you heard it here first 28-24. I'd like that to be happen, but I'm doubtful, but can't be scared..

Circuitous events....

If you are confused by the name of today's blog, so am I, Wally however decided to use this word while playing baseball. "Mike Cameron took a circuitous route to that ball", I was confused by it as well too, but it's legit....

In Brewer news today, Sheriff Melvin & Co. delivered their end of the year address and their plans to begin the offseason. A few of the main bright points that I picked up was that it looks like Felipe Lopez and JJ Hardy will go the way of the dodo to clear room for Rickie Weeks & Alcides Escobar for the upcoming year. Also, Melvin squashed any rumors of Rickie moving to center-field, he probably didn't like the results of the last time he did that with an infielder, see Bill Hall. Casey McGehee was also basically named the starting third basemen for next year, here's hoping there is no sophomore slump in the event we end up trading away Gamel/Hardy for a top-tier pitcher such as <strike>C.C Sabbathia</strike> <strike>Ben Sheets</strike>.....ok, well I don't know. But there is always the awesome FA Market this year which includes Doug Davis, Justin Duchsherer and Tim Hudson:/

The Bucks, yes Wisconsin, we still do have a professional basketball team even though this year the program looks like the program from the Cleveland Indians and the movie "Major League." You know that it is going to be a long year when your two stars(Michael Redd and Andrew Bogut) are both coming back from surgery, and that ESPN has you ranked 29/30th in their Power Rankings before the season even begins. Let's go lottery!!!

So, and with today, that leaves the Packers. Aaron Rodgers is doing his best David Carr impersonation by being sacked twenty times so far through four games. Many people think it is because he has lost the facial hair, I however think that it mostly comes down to the fact that our offensive line is in shambles, and here's to hoping that Mark Tauscher if we resign him is our saving grace....

Lastly, our friend Lloyd Heitman picked up a 10 pin last night bowling for the spare. If you knew how hard this guy through the ball you would understand. He is the Rick Vaughn of bowling, true story.

Really the last thing, Ned Yost might be coming back with either the Cleveland Indians or Houston Astros, I can't wait to see FNY.com back up soon!!!

72 Hours later....

It has been 72 hours since the end of the season for the 2009 Milwaukee Brewers, and since then Chris Bosio and Stan Kyles have said goodbye for now, and at least four players (McGehee,Looper,Parra,Counsell) are schedule to have off-season surgery.......
On the bright side however, we did re-sign Trevor Time to a one-year deal with an option for the following year, but many people are complaining that is too much for the aging wonder. I say, he's worth every penny, granted he was injured the early part of the year....but once he joined us in the regular season he has dominated in every aspect!

Some of the things I would be happy to see this offseason, Hank Mace getting fired, JJ getting traded possibly for solid pitcher (3-4 starter), and Bernie's mug of beer coming back to Miller Park for him to slide into instead of the Kalihari Landing Zone. You may ask, do we need another 3-4 starter when we have the infamous combination of Loop,Soup and Parra, because they're bad enough said. Looper will break the record books next year with the amount of gopherballs given up, Soup needs to stick to pitching recycleables away, and Parra needs to go see a sports shrink "i.e. Jorge de la Rosa this year" Oh well, at least we have <strike>Brett Favre </strike>Aaron Rodgers and the Packers to look forward to this year....

FIRE HANK MACE!!!

Greetings everyone, welcome to "Fire Hank Mace". The goal of this blog provided to you by myself, Jason Vanden Elzen and my friend Aaron Wallender will be about most importantly the Milwaukee Brewers and other Wisconsin sports.
